Lean Sprint

Continuous corporate success in an ever changing world depends on many things. Yet, it essentially relies on recognizing customers’ problems quickly and coming to the rescue with a product or service.

Building such a product or service in only five days never fails to make people stop short. Yet, the success rate is 100% – guaranteed. In most established company structures, lengthy innovation and implementation processes are seen as the norm. The first step of implementing the Lean spirit in a business is to radically speed this process up.

5 Days

5 Days

Day 1 – Understanding a problem.

There is a reason for innovation. Always. And this reason is based on a problem. Always. Because Lean Innovation focuses on one thing, and one thing only: the customer. Identifying a customer’s problem sounds easy. However, it is the linchpin of innovation. It will be analyzed, prioritized and weeded out. Until it is out in the open: the problem.

Day 1 – Understanding a problem.
Day 2 – Create a solution.

Day 2 – Create a solution.

You have taken the customer’s perspective. This user value will inform your focus in everything that follows. With Lean Innovation, a problem is never left without a solution. At this point, it is our goal to find it. At times, this is the moment in which we have to tell the occasional sprinters to hold their horses. Because a solution isn’t a product yet. It’s merely an assumption.

Day 3 – Turn it into a product.

This product can also be seen as an “experiment”. An MVP – a minimum viable product – serves to check assumptions. Day 2’s solution was an assumption. Now, we identify not only appropriate metrics of success but also ways to test them. Put differently: we conceptualize a product or service in a way that makes it measurable.

Day 3 – Turn it into a product.
Day 4 – Implementing the product.

Day 4 – Implementing the product.

At this point we’ve got the basics linked: The concept, the framework, the KPI. Now, the product needs to be implemented for real. A landing page for digital products. Or a hands-on customer service. The forms may be manifold, but the results are measurable.

Day 5 – Wrap up your product.

Quality is also the applied standard when it comes to innovation. Every step in the process of customer acquisition is made accessible and measurable. We expand, implement, correct and explain the product. The solution it offers will be crystal clear and easily accessible. Let the collection of data begin.

Day 5 – Wrap up your product.

The success team

When putting together a team for a Lean Sprint, certain constellations already facilitate quick action. We develop customized fine tuning for each Lean Sprint. We also share our team work experience during a Sprint, for example in this article.

Analyzing Data.

In Data Learning Sessions we analyze the collected data together. They are key for the future development of the product and the success scale against which innovation needs to be measured. Ideally: Starting another Lean Sprint on the basis of the data retrieved and the lessons learned from them.

The Output.

It’s quite obvious: the output of the product sprint is a tangible product. At the end of the five days, it is ready to be tested, analyzed and strengthened. The second output is equally important: Product development in 5 days – this creates a great sense of achievement and is the first step towards a different mindset: Acting quickly in a cross-functional team, while always keeping an eye on customer needs and generating data. Because data is the currency of the future.

The Output.
